Altair's new 2022 simulation software release is here! This significant update focuses on next-generation connectivity, architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), and circuit board and electronic design capabilities. The latest release includes new features and capabilities that broaden, strengthen, and further specialize Altair’s comprehensive simulation toolkit.
The latest release of Altair Feko includes support for automation of realistic 5G envelope beam patterns through an API and improved terrain propagation models. When coupled with features such as a new hybrid ray-tracing approach and more accurate consideration of effects – such as rotating doppler effects and localized ray effects for ray-based solvers – more accurate and reliable propagation, radiation and coupling simulation results can be achieved.
Using the latest message-passing interfaces, shared memory, and more efficient parallelization with advanced fast near and far-field calculation approaches, users can characterize larger and more complex antennas and arrays in their operating environments faster than ever before – without approximations. Accurate full-wave characterization of antennas and arrays is critical in any reliable wireless system analysis.
In the latest release, users can utilize more application-specific and advanced post-processing tools (such as FM-CW radar simulation analysis targeting ADAS applications) in an automated fashion through an API. In addition, Altair Feko’s ability to consider sensor types such as ultrasound sensors and infrared sensors has been extended, giving users more types of sensors in the connected world they can include in simulations.
“Altair Feko’s unique features such as finite array analysis and synthesis combined with lower memory requirements were key to faster and accurate simulations and helped us complete our design in time to deliver a fully validated phased array antenna
product to our customer.”

Altair’s integrated, adaptive AEC solutions enable engineers to simulate and design buildings and industrial structures that are safe, resilient, and meet today’s sustainability objectives. All solutions are fully compatible with Altair AU licensing access, so users can choose what and when to use solutions as they accelerate their project workflows.
Combining structural analysis and design solutions like Altair S-FRAME and S-CONCRETE with SimSolid rapid analysis, HyperWorks’ advanced meshing, OptiStruct’s optimization, and Altair CFD wind load simulations, Altair offers an unparalleled AEC simulation solution suite.
Altair S-CONCRETE reduces design time and project costs for continuous multi-span reinforced beams design according to the American ACI 318-19, in addition to Canadian, European with UK Annex, and Singapore design code support.
S-FRAME’s linear and advanced analysis also adds steel design support for China’s GB 50017-2017 code in addition to American, Canadian, European, EU, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand steel and concrete design codes.
With Altair S-TIMBER, engineers can address the growing demand for sustainable buildings. Advanced analysis capabilities for mass timber simulate the structural response to seismic loading according to NBCC, ASCE, and IB codes. With enhanced control over panel modeling, engineers can design CLT, Glulam, and Sawn lumber structural elements for code compliance to complete their projects on time and within budget.
“Structures can account for up to 80% of a building’s embodied carbon footprint; our early collaborative design approach helps us develop options that reduce this footprint and even lead to regenerative design to provide a net positive to the environment. In response to climate change and increasing natural disasters, we plan and design projects with climate change resilience in mind.”

Altair PollEx greatly expands its design verification, signal integrity (SI) and PCB modeling functionalities. Cross probe verification now includes DFx Excel results as well as a direct ECAD link to Pulsonix and Altium Designer, the latter also supported via the free PollEx for Altium tool which has been recently released.
In the area of MCAD/MCAE for electronics, Altair SimLab supports typical applications including drop test, multiphysics (thermal and structural) analysis for PCBs, as well as thermal management simulation of the entire electronic system.
For power electronics and motor drives, the recent addition of PSIM to the Altair portfolio has added simulation and design tools for power electronics, including power supplies, motor drives, control systems, and microgrids.
“We are excited that Altair has joined Altium’s Nexar partner ecosystem, and very pleased that this edition of Altair Pollex is being made available to the Altium Designer user community at no additional cost to our users.”
