The Altair Embed product enables developers to easily create complex algorithms at a high level using block diagrams and state charts. Diagrams can be simulated interactively on the PC to verify correctness. The automatic C code generator creates working, flashable executable firmware (ELF images) that can be run either in standalone or Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) mode which provides capabilities for interactive gain changes, high speed data collection, and digital scope displays.
Altair Embed now supports a wide range of products from STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications. In particular, Altair Embed supports the full STM32 family of 32-bit microcontrollers based on the Arm® Cortex®-M processor which is designed to offer new degrees of freedom to MCU users.
The Altair Embed STM32 model-based firmware development support for on-chip peripheral includes blocks for ADC, DAC, PWM, GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Event Capture, Quadrature Encoder, DMA, Extern, and Interrupts. Downloading and the HIL debugger work seamlessly with ST-Link, simplifying Edit/Compile/Debug cycles resulting in rapid design cycles.
Supported STM32 families include F0, F103, F3, F4, F7, H7, G0, G4, L4, L4+. The high-level abstract and simple nature of peripheral support make it easy to retarget a design from one chip family to the next. Altair Embed includes its own hard real-time Visual operating system (RTOS), but can also generate code to work with any other RTOS.
