Highlights of the New Altair Community
What’s new in the new Altair Community? Read on to find out all the great things Higher Logic Vanilla delivers to Altair Community members.
Convergence of the Altair Community and RapidMiner Community
First and foremost, the new Altair Community merges the old Altair Community with the RapidMiner Community, bringing together two lively and active user bases in one unified platform. Now, all Altair users can share innovations and help peers in a single environment specifically tailored to meet the needs and wants of a growing user community.
Dedicated Spaces for Tailored Discussions
The new Altair Community experience also introduces a dedicated space for technical solutions and announcements organized by platform for the Altair® HyperWorks®, Altair® HPCWorks®, and Altair® RapidMiner® platforms. Moreover, it also brings a dedicated space for regional discussions and users of the Japanese/Korean languages; spaces for more languages are forthcoming.
Revamped Badge and Point System
Engagement is the beating heart of the Altair Community – to better reward and foster engagement, we’ve revamped the way we reward members in the Altair Community Leaderboard. Now, users will receive points for answering questions, providing an accepted answer, or performing activities that earn you a badge (in addition to points).
Additionally, users can earn badges, points, and swag for participating in Altair Community campaigns, challenges, and events. We’ll honor top-performing members with special recognition and rewards.
Altair Exchange
The Altair Exchange is a database of freely accessible scripts, models, and workspaces posted by Altair Community members, including Altair staff. The Altair Exchange is open to the public for downloading projects. Sharing your projects will help others get up and running with Altair products faster by having access to prebuilt models, workspaces, and scripts. It will also help you to build relationships with other community members, contribute to your reputation as an expert in your chosen field, and allow you to gain valuable feedback on your projects.
A Simpler, More Streamlined User Experience
Above all, we were committed to giving Altair Community members a better user experience that prioritized ease of use and the ability to easily find information. For instance, we’ve introduced a simpler way to ask questions and a centralized Q&A forum. We’ve also introduced a way for users to follow preferred categories, giving them the option to receive notifications via the Altair Community and weekly email digests. This allows users to stay up to date on the topics they care about. For instance, if you’re interested in answering questions and helping others, you can follow the Q&A category; if you want to see the latest updates to a certain platform, you can follow the category for Altair HyperWorks, Altair RapidMiner, or Altair HPCWorks; or if you’re interested in language-specific content, you can follow our language-specific category.
Lastly, we streamlined how users find information by improving the Altair Community’s search function – which now parses all Altair Community sources and includes the ability to filter their content by products, versions, and custom topics. We’ve also updated our navigation to better help users switch between different Altair applications such as Altair® Learning™, the Altair One® Marketplace, and beyond.
And moving forward, we plan to implement more great features that enhance the user experience. Soon, we plan to add an “idea portal” where users can suggest and vote on product enhancements that will be sent directly to Altair’s technical teams.
We encourage all Altair Community members to get started with the new platform today. Click here to review the orientation checklist, introduce yourself, and get started today.
