Global Call for Submissions for the 2019 Altair Enlighten Award
The automotive industry’s only award dedicated to vehicle lightweighting in four categories; Full Vehicle, Module, Enabling Technology and The Future of Lightweighting
TROY, Mich. – February 7, 2019 – Altair, (Nasdaq: ALTR) a global technology company providing solutions in product development, high-performance computing and data intelligence, and the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), invite submissions for the 2019 Enlighten Award. The winners will be recognized during the CAR Management Briefing Seminars (MBS) in Traverse City, Michigan, and will have the opportunity to ring the Nasdaq stock market opening bell in New York, NY.
The 2019 Altair Enlighten Award will be presented in four categories: Full Vehicle, Module, Enabling Technology, and the Future of Lightweighting. The Full Vehicle category award is given for exceptional achievement in the lightweighting of an entire vehicle, with previous winners including FCA, General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Jaguar Land Rover. The Module award is given for innovation in the lightweighting of a subsystem or component, with previous winners including BMW, Toyota, Faurecia, BASF and ContiTech. The Enabling Technology award is reserved for any technology that enables lightweight innovation in a vehicle, such as a material, process or joining technology. The Future of Lightweighting category is reserved for innovative ideas, processes, materials, and technologies that have significant potential to support lightweighting initiatives but have yet to be leveraged on a production vehicle platform.
“Lightweighting vehicles can bring mild to drastic reductions in carbon emissions, not to mention cost-savings for OEMs and consumers,” said Richard Yen, senior vice president, global automotive and industry verticals team, Altair. “Since its inception, Altair’s technologies have enabled our customers to create break-through designs with reduced impact on the planet.”
Carla Bailo, president & CEO, CAR notes, “We are pleased to continue our collaboration with Altair because of their global leadership in solutions that produce the optimal balance between weight, performance and cost. This award helps drive innovation in lightweighting, which is critical to the success of e-mobility solutions. We can’t wait to see the key contributions the 2019 nominations will bring in new approaches to automotive engineering and design, contributing to further reductions in weight, fuel consumption, and emissions.”
