Altair AI Studio: A Useful No-code Tool to Introduce AI to Students with No Computing Background

Dr. Kifayat Khan, Senior Lecturer of Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics at Birmingham City University presents at the 2025 ATCx Unlocking Data Science & AI conference.

For the past two years, Dr. Kahn has been teaching AI within his Fintech module to students from accounting, finance, and economics backgrounds who often have little or no prior computing experience. To make AI more accessible, Dr. Kahn uses Altair AI Studio, a tool that students greatly enjoy for its user-friendly approach. Through hands-on applications with real datasets, they explore and apply AI concepts without feeling overwhelmed by technical barriers. The coursework assessment is done via Altair AI Studio, encouraging practical experimentation. This approach has consistently enhanced engagement, deepened understanding, and built students’ confidence in applying AI to finance.
