Cooler by Design - Magnoric Optimizes Magnetic Refrigeration With Next-Level Simulation

Magnoric, a pioneer in magnetic refrigeration, aimed to optimize its active magnetocaloric regenerator (AMR) system — a sustainable alternative to traditional gas-compression cooling. The main challenge lay in balancing spacer thickness to achieve both hydraulic efficiency and structural durability. Using Altair® SimLab®’s advanced multiphysics simulation capabilities, Magnoric virtually modeled and analyzed complex AMR geometries, studying how design variations impacted pressure drops, flow behavior, and mechanical robustness. The project reduced physical prototyping costs, validated predictive models, and accelerated design decisions, paving the way for more durable, energy-efficient magnetic refrigeration systems.
