Development of a Multifunctional Truck Cross Member from Continuous Fiber Reinforced Plastics

Development of a Multifunctional Truck Cross Member from Continuous Fiber Reinforced Plastics

In this webinar, we'll explain the development process of an air pressure tank, which has the additional function of being an important cross member in the frame of a truck. This multifunctional cross member is of course not only made from continuous fiber, but has some main structural parts from aluminum and plastic liner. This session will showcase how Teufelberger, an Australian company well known for their fibers, ropes and winches down to technical laces, developed the tank from the very first concept to prototyping, testing and serial production.

(One of the prototypes that have been tested in the ECS is also mounted in the demonstrator depicted in the image to the right, and used in the lightweight rolling chassis from ECOS truck).

Featuring FEMFAT by Magna Powertrain, available through the Altair Partner Alliance.
