Structural analysis capability of aero engines at the system level is essential for answering a wide range of engineering questions along the product life cycle. Those range from early and robust design decision making to fast identification of root causes in the field. The system level simulation of rotating machinery has come a long way and plays a crucial role. However, the desire to increase both the level of detail and speed at the same time can often times not be satisfied due to modelling effort or computational performance. This contribution is meant to share thoughts on the option for and use cases of faster and more precise structural analysis through the combination of classical Multi Body Simulation and the modelling of system behaviour using machine learning.
