High-Fidelity CFD Simulations Overnight: A Breakthrough for Simulation-Based Design

High-Fidelity CFD Simulations Overnight: A Breakthrough for Simulation-Based Design

Learn how modern GPUs pave the way for affordable and fast high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for aerodynamics and aeroacoustics. These highly resolved, transient CFD simulations are computationally expensive and, if implemented on pure CPU systems, are typically constrained by available computational resources and prohibitively long runtimes. This has been a roadblock for integrating high-fidelity simulations into simulation-based design cycles in the past.

We'll present a GPU-native CFD solver that leverages the massively parallel architecture of GPUs to revolutionize simulation-based design. When combined with recent GPU versions, such as the Hopper GPUs, results are produced in unprecedented turnaround times of just a few hours on a single machine. Simulations presented at the conference include aerodynamic and aeroacoustic simulations of fully detailed production-level passenger vehicles, as well as investigations of rotating devices such as industrial fans and HVAC blowers.
