Transfer chutes play a critical role in bulk material handling systems, yet their design often faces challenges related to dust generation and material flow inefficiencies. With the constant evolution of efficient computational tools, we can now analyze these issues and provide solutions. This presentation introduces the concepts of CFD and DEM along with their coupling, and how these advanced simulation techniques can assist engineers to optimize chute designs for reduced dust emissions and improved material handling efficiency.
