Modeling a Shear Cell Test with Altair EDEM Together with Powder Database

Shear cell test is often used for bulk material characterization under high-stress, low-strain rate environments. Further, results from this test also serve as a benchmark for material model calibration in a Discrete Element Method(DEM)-based modeling. This talk focuses on modeling a shear cell using EDEM and its utilization for material model calibration and automation through Altair HyperStudy. We also outline the powder database inside EDEM, simplifying this process and guiding the user in arriving at calibrated parameters with the least iterations.
