Pre-validation of Gum Coating Process by using Altair EDEM

Altair EDEM can be adapted to various powder materials, and it can effectively reflect the shape of equipment and food particles based on 3D CAD. DEM simulation provides the coating thickness distribution of gum particles by using the Spray-Coating model in EDEM. In this study, predicting the quality issue in coating process is performed before setting up the new equipment. The thickness uniformity of the coating and its main process parameter is predicted. And the breakage or deformation of the product due to the increased pressure is calculated through this simulation.
