Simulating Fresh Concrete with DEM

Dr.-Ing. Knut Krenzer, Head of Simulation at IAB Weimar GmbH presents at the 2024 ATCx DEM.

This presentation gives an overview over the application of the DEM in the context of the construction industry with scientific background. The main focus is on the UDM-modelling of fresh concrete in the context of 3D-Concrete printing and mixing. This includes solutions for liquid absorption and transfer, particle merge, particle  cohesion, rheology of suspensions and thixotropy effect.
