Reflecting on 2024 and Four Decades of Excellence
It is always a privilege each December to reflect on what Altair has achieved throughout the year. Though it should never really be a surprise, I am consistently blown away by what our organization and our people – all 3,000+ Altairians – can do in a year. Our global team has outdone themselves once again, delivering a wealth of new accolades, innovations, collaborations, and growth. As I consider these accomplishments I am filled with pride, gratitude, and excitement for 2025.
Accolades and Recognitions
Altair was named a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms. This was a defining achievement for Altair, one that validated what we have known for years: Altair® RapidMiner® is one of the market’s most unique and comprehensive offerings for data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI). I cannot overstate how proud I am of our team for earning this distinction. Altair RapidMiner was also recognized by Tech Times, who named it their top AI data analysis tool for 2024.
In addition, we won awards highlighting our unmatched organizational culture:
- Google Cloud North America 2024 Partner of the Year for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- “Global Most Loved Workplaces” (for the fourth straight year)
- “UK’s Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces”
- “Great Place to Work Certification (India)”
- Kununu “Top Company for 2025” (Germany)
- “Top Most Loved Workplaces® for Veterans”
- The Altair Enlighten Award was named a Top 10 Sustainability Award for 2024 by EV Magazine
Expansion, Innovation, and Growth
Throughout the year Altair also continued to expand our presence and deepen our impact around the world. We completed a set of key strategic acquisitions that enhanced our technology, broadened our customer base, and opened new pathways for innovation:
- Cambridge Semantics: Helped us offer Altair customers a solid foundation for building advanced analytics ecosystems that inject knowledge graphs and artificial intelligence (AI) into day-to-day business and R&D operations to leverage generative AI.
- Research in Flight: Brought the addition of Altair® FlightStream™, a revolutionary aerodynamics tool that merges panel methods with modern computational techniques, delivering rapid solutions for a range of aerodynamic applications.
- Metrics Design Automation Inc.: Brought the addition of Altair® DSim™, a complete digital simulator that makes functional simulation for complex semiconductors accessible to all, enabling seamless transitions from desktop to cloud.
- KSK Analytics: Expanded our reach and depth in data science to better serve the growing AI market in the APAC region and help users confidently apply data science methodologies to their everyday problems.
As we continue to expand our portfolio, attract and keep the best and brightest, grow our partner channel and expand our customer footprint, we opened four new offices to support our growth – in Yokneam Illit, Israel, Zurich, Switzerland, Thessaloniki, Greece, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates – and the opening of the Altair Innovation Experience Centre in Pune, India.
And as always, we continued to define what it means to be on the cutting edge of technology as demonstrated for example in the releases of Altair One®; Altair® PhysicsAI™ with geometric deep learning; Altair® HyperMesh® CFD for external aerodynamics; Altair® Inspire™ for implicit modeling; Altair® SimLab® for system-level electronics and 3D IC; Altair SimSolid®, and more. Taken together, our product updates and additions continued our legacy of open, flexible, scalable technology. With Altair’s tools, users can create next-gen data and AI fabrics, unleash AI-powered engineering, streamline and simplify EDA processes, and better harness computational intelligence to drive innovation.
Outstanding Collaborations
2024 was also another year of fantastic collaboration with organizations of all industries, sizes, and specialties. Altair has always prided itself on our unmatched, unwavering commitment to outstanding customer and partner relationships, and that legacy only grew throughout the year. Though I cannot mention them all here, I believe the following collaborations demonstrate Altair’s continued leadership, innovation, and excellence:
- European Space Agency (ESA): Through the ESA Partnership Initiative for Commercialisation (EPIC), Altair HyperWorks and Altair RapidMiner will supercharge innovation for European aerospace startups.
- U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR): We published a host of materials highlighting the crucial role Altair technology plays in predicting wildfires and assisting researchers at Antarctica’s McMurdo Station.
- NVIDIA: Select Altair solutions are now supported on NVIDIA Grace Hopper and Grace CPU Superchip architectures.
- 37th America’s Cup: Altair technology was front and center in the world’s most prestigious sailing competition, driving design innovation for the New York Yacht Club (NYYC) American Magic and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli teams.
- Cleveland Golf: Altair’s technology and expertise were instrumental in developing Cleveland Golf’s new HiBore XL driver.
- Performance Integrated Vehicle Optimization Technology (PIVOT) Project: Alongside Aston Martin, Brunel University London, and GESCRAP, Altair technology will play a pivotal role in the £5.8 million project designed to reduce embedded carbon emissions in vehicle components.
- Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem (SAFE™): We were selected as an EDA partner for the South Korea-based SAFE™ initiative.
- Academic Collaborations: We announced new collaborations with leading academic institutions around the world, including the University of Nottingham (U.K.), Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Israel), Kumoh National Institute of Technology (South Korea), Auburn University (U.S.) and more.
Through these examples and so many more, Altair reinforced our ability to deliver computational intelligence excellence, best-in-class simulation, data analytics, AI, and high-performance computing (HPC).
Beyond 2024: Four Decades of Excellence
2025 will mark Altair’s 40th anniversary. It is an extraordinary milestone to reflect upon, one that I am overjoyed to celebrate. It is also a surreal milestone, one that conjures a lifetime of memories, challenges, triumphs, and pride. I am filled with a multitude of emotions as I reflect not just on 2024 but on the four-decade legacy of excellence every Altairian has helped build.
The world has changed immensely in the past 40 years, but Altair has innovated and flourished despite it all – changes in technology, markets, competitors, regulations, standards, etc. It is – and has always been – thanks to our culture. Altair’s greatest asset is our people, buoyed by the four core values they have embodied since the day we opened: envision the future, communicate honestly and broadly, embrace diversity and risk-taking, and seek technology and business firsts.
I would like to thank our employees, customers, and partners for yet another outstanding year of innovation, success, and growth. As I look forward to 2025 and beyond, I believe Altair is poised for a new era of success for our technology, our approach, and most importantly, our people. Wishing health and prosperity to all this holiday season and new year.
