The panelists for this discussion hosted by Altair CTO James Dagg, are Tony Shakib, Partner/GM, Microsoft Azure IoT at Microsoft, Prof. Karen Willcox, Director of the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin, and Jim Morrish, Founder and CEO of Transforma Insights.
Digital twins come in many shapes and sizes; essentially they are a digital image of an object, process, person, place in the physical world. They offer the potential to design new products, create new services, change the way things are traditionally done, and develop new business models, thereby playing a critical role in the digital transformation initiatives. This will require an eco-system focused approach as compared to the traditional point-to-point connections, building digital threads that facilitate information flow between the physical and digital worlds. The panel will discuss the ensuing convergence of OT and IT, and the role that engineering simulation and/or data analytics will play, in building objective-driven digital twins for the new age digital enterprises.
The recording is about 35 minutes long, and was presented at the 2020 Global Altair Technology conference.
