Do We Need HPC for AI and Machine Learning?

Fritz Ferstl, Altair, looks into HPC's impact of machine learning. Public information on running ML software pipelines rarely mentions HPC tools, even though at least some of the machine learning workflows are very similar to their HPC counterparts. In fact, HPC tools address many challenges that so-called MLOps environments are just beginning to scratch the surface of. This presentation will address why HPC environments may be underrepresented in the machine learning domain and will showcase clear benefits of leveraging HPC, as well as describe concrete use cases for customers.
