Identifying Shrinkage Porosity and Reducing Physical Try-outs Using Inspire Cast

This study carried out at FAI Fundição de Aço Inox aimed to streamline the design and manufacturing process of casting dies for an ASTM A 297 Grade HN steel component via gravity casting, using furan resin as the mold material. The project used Inspire Cast for virtual simulation in order to predict possible defects during the tool design phase. By simulating the casting process, shrinkage porosity was accurately predicted, making it easier to make decisions about the design concept.

Presented at Altair's 2024 Simulate at the Speed of Design by Marcela Molinari Rathsan, Responsible for Metallurgical Laboratory at FAIG.
