Think different – complex machined part

Just an example of how Altair SimSolid allows you to think different with respect to how you perform structural simulation.  With traditional FEA you are constantly forced to create and evaluate geometry trade-offs to get to a model suitable to mesh.
Here is an example of a complex machined part. The native CAD part contains 1200+ faces and 150+ small holes. Traditional FEA users must decide how to reduce the geometric complexity.  Meshing the original geometry is just not practical. Here is one possible FEA simplified geometry.  There are many others.  The wide variation of this geometry simplification step lead to a wide variety of solution results and depending on the steps made, may even introduce artificial stress concentrations -- for example in sharp re-entrant corners.
With Altair SimSolid you can analyze the native geometry directly.  No geometry simplification is required. From CAD to result in just a few minutes.

One word of caution. Altair SimSolid does not eliminate engineering judgment.  You must still evaluate the result with respect to the physical environment you are trying to simulate.  But it does provide consistency to that evaluation by removing many layers uncertainty from the model/mesh creation decision process.
Altair SimSolid allows you to think different by dramatically expanding the number of parts and the complexity of parts possible to include in your simulation.
